Shoot the aliens while avoiding their bullets.
- Avoid getting hit
- Use the bases to block enemy shots or avoid their shots by scrolling left or right.
- Move your ship side to side using your arrow keys or using the buttons on the lower left portion of the screen.
- Kill enemy ships
- Tap your spacebar or on the button in the lower right corner of the game to repeatedly shoot the alien ships.
- Various alien aircraft take different shot amounts to destroy.
- Level design
- Each level has its own pattern of movement.
- Some ships move side to side while others also come forward to you each time they hit the edge of the screen.
- Deaths & power ups
- You begin the game with 3 lives.
- Each time a bullet hits your ship you lose a life.
- The power meter decreases toward zero as time es. Shooting bullets uses additional power.
- If the power meter at the top center of the screen goes to zero you also die.
- The fast moving ship which periodically moves across the top of the screen drops a heart container which gives you another life. If you already have 3 lives then you do not get a fourth life, though it also boosts your power.
- If the game ends and you play again you start at the beginning.

This game is a modern take on the classic game Space Invaders. The main difference of this game is in its graphics. As the name suggests, the game’s graphics evoke the appearance of neon light tubes. This gives it its own unique retro vibe distinct from other throwback-inspired games.
Much like its predecessor, your goal is to attack and defeat a barrage of alien attackers. Each wave of invaders is more powerful than the last. You must shoot some enemies twice or thrice. Each level also has a different layout and more erratic enemy movements. Unlike its predecessor, this game gives you some cover to defend yourself from enemy fire. You also have the opportunity to shoot down ing flying saucers. These will give you an extra life or a boost in energy. Be watchful of your energy meter, though. Each shot costs you power, and it’s game over if you hit empty.
Fans and newcomers alike will enjoy this take on an old classic. It resembles its predecessor enough to be familiar and intuitive. But it also gives enough new features to challenge the veteran and novice player alike.
If you loved the classic Space Invaders, you’ll certainly enjoy Neon Invaders. Unlike the old game, this version comes with a variety of space aliens in neon colors. Your ship must kill all alien invaders per level before they come too close to your base. It’s game over when you get shot, or if an alien gets too close to your ship. Use the space bar to fire, and the left and right arrow keys on your computer keyboard.
As a tip, make sure to time your shots while taking cover under the blocks. Shots don’t fire consecutively and take a while to go off. So if you miss a shot, you have to redirect your aim or wait for the alien to come toward your shot’s course. Aliens become stronger with each level. And the less aliens are left, the faster they move. It’s an exercise in precision, patience, and the right timing. It’s also easy to get hooked. Try this relaxing shooting game on your free time.
I love this game. I found it by chance and think it deserves every accolade. I give it five stars for everything. I would like to see highest score recently, and player name so that I could boast to my older friends who care not, but they would be green like this and the fonts and display in Amstram 1985 way back then. It was so exciting and still is. Of course this is not completely original but it is original in that I have not seen anything Neon anywhere. So for me it is the best thing this year_
